Stipe Miocic talks fighting Mark Hunt: “I’ll bring a pillow if he wants me to”

Submission Radio were in attendance for the UFC Fight Night Adelaide: Hunt vs. Miocic media event at the Adelaide entertainment centre on Monday. Hosts Kacper Rosolowski and Denis Shkuratov caught up with Stipe Miocic to chat about his upcoming fight against Mark Hunt on May 10th in Australia as well as other topics.

In the video above, The Croatian talks about the long flight down-under, his Xbox, getting in trouble from his girlfriend, standing and trading with Mark Hunt, fighting in his opponent’s backyard and having the crowd boo him, winning by any means.

On Mark Hunt’s comments about knocking Stipe out cold

“You know it’s business man. I understand he wants to get the win, so do I. I mean he’s going to do whatever he’s going to do and I’m going to do whatever I’m going to do to win. So like I said, I’ll bring a pillow if he wants me to, I mean it’s all good man. Listen there ain’t no hard feelings towards him. You know he seems like a nice guy, shook his hand and everything, but listen man at the end of the day it’s business and I’m here to fight.”

On Stipe’s strategy in standing and striking with Mark Hunt, a former K1 Champion

“I’m not trying to get hit with a lot of big shots, you know (Laughs). I know he hits hard, [I’m going to] just keep my distance, you know do my thing. Whatever I work on I’m going to do in the fight and then I’m going to win the fight. I don’t care what’s going to happen. I’m going to win that fight. I’m going to get my hand raised at the end of the night.”
“It’s Mixed Martial Arts man, I don’t care where it goes. I’m going to win every aspect of that game.”

On if this fight may play out like his fight with Roy Nelson

“That’d be great. You know, nice, easy fight (laughs) get my hands going. No, you know with Roy it was a tough fight. That guy, he’s dangerous, hits hard. I didn’t want to get caught with any shots, but you know yeah Mark, he’s a little bit of the same but he does a lot of things different than Roy does, and you know I think that if I just do what I’ll do I’ll be alright.”
