4-time Olympian and current Aussie UFC middleweight Dan Kelly shows you how to Judo throw your opponent if they counter you, AKA Uchi Mata into Harai Goshi.
With UFC 190 in the books and Ronda Rousey leaving Bethe Correia in the rear-view mirror, we continue the trend of “Judo in MMA” for our Technique of the Week. Who better to demonstrate than the man who competed in four Olympic games (2000, 2004, 2008, 2012) and currently competes in the UFC’s middleweight division, Australia’s own Dan Kelly. This week Dan demonstrates the Uchi Mata into Harai Goshi. What that means for those who haven’t studied Judo or Japanese, is that when your opponent counters your initial Judo throw, there is still an opportunity for another simple throw. It may take a bit of practice, but watch the video above to learn exactly how to do it. This combination of moves can often be seen performed by UFC Female Bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey during her fights.
Check out the video above for the technique, and don’t forget to subscribe HERE for a new technique every Wednesday!
